Which weight loss surgery is the best and safest?

I am a 31 year old female and I have been over weight from childhood. I have done everything from weight watchers to nutrisystem and nothing works. I am currently undergoing treatment for instability in my back after back surgery and the doctor is telling me that if I don’t lose weight I will have another major meltdown in my back within the next 2 years. Which surgery is the best and the safest? Gastric Bypass or the Lap Band System. Please help!!
