How do I respect my overprotective father?

He tries to buffer my every move or wants me to be completely dependent on him, he insists on initating every decision I’ve made (such as getting a medical note for my exam deferral) insists on being the one to help me find a job, tries to prevent me from obtaining student loans so that I will go to him for money, tries to sever my relationship with my relatives so that I will let him decide how many courses I am capable of taking. Tries to prevent me from engagin in weight loss treatments that I can afford. Displays his distrust of me IMMEDIATELY whenever I meet someone knew and convinces them that I am inadequate and incapable of functioning on my own. I dont respect him. I think he’s a leech.
